I agree up to the last one. We don't know that Mac is a shoe-in for anymore promotions. Just because she was selected for the position, does not guarantee a promotion.
Plus she has already wasted a year instead of trying to conceive. With a new position, it mostly will delay wanting to take time off for procedures or maternity leave. Add to the fact that the higher salary would be lost until or unless Harm found a civilian job of equal pay. Since we do not know the physical status of Mattie, we don't know how much care she will need. It could be like Harm's ramp strike and only take a few months to recover. Harm is getting to old to be an aviator. Most of his flying days are over. Besides, there may not be a O-6 position at Mirimar or anywhere close. O-5 positions are easier to find. I think DJE showed quite a bit of emotion throughout the show. He was really worth watching.(NT)-- G, 17:30:23 04/30/05 Sat

A couple of things bothered me about this ep. The first was the time issue, I think everyone understands that. The second was the flashbacks. The should have each had their own, or shown mac thinking first. I didn't feel totally confident that they were her thoughts with the way they shot them. I hate that mac never said I love you. They really did some major unjustice in the way they wrote her for this ep. For the most part, she was the mac of late, not the one of old that I loved. I was just dissapointed in the lack of effort they put into this. (NT) -- jamie, 17:32:06 04/30/05 Sat

I also loved the flashbacks and they made me cry. It was to show they both were remembering all the times together and was to show how important they are to each other. I loved Mac in this episode the way she let Vic have it, her fun banter with Harm and her showing up at Harm’s and finally talking to him. Of course Mac will be different than she was prior to S9 she has been through Paraguay, killing Sadik, Webb, and endometritis. There is no way she would be the same person. But last night I finally saw that she had embraced the 4% solution and was finally truly happy. (NT) -- Hope, 18:00:26 04/30/05 Sat

As for Mac not saying I love you even though we don’t hear it you can tell she does with her body language and looks. There is no way after the way they looked at each other when she walked in bar that she didn’t tell him. She never had a problem saying the words we were always lead to believe that was Harm’s issue so I think that is why we only saw him say it. I much prefer seeing her love than having her say the words but not the emotion behind them like she did with her other relationships. (NT) -- Hope, 18:03:50 04/30/05 Sat

But the whole thing with Mac is that she wants words. She was never willing to see Harm's actions for what they were. It is hard to accept that we should "see" her love for him through looks and actions when she can't do the same thing. (NT) -- G, 18:50:15 04/30/05 Sat

But even though Harm’s action showed he loved her his looks and body language didn’t always because he wasn’t ready to let someone in. He admit as much to Mattie in Coming Home he didn’t let people get close. I think Mac felt insecure in how he felt about her. I think a lot of this is based on her childhood. And why I feel Mac wants to hear the words for her she needs that and it doesn’t make it a bad thing just something she needs. I understand some want to have heard her say the words I was just saying why I thought they didn’t show her saying it. (NT) -- Hope, 19:14:15 04/30/05 Sat

Look at it this way. Mac has always wanted words. She *finally* got them from Harm. For Harm, actions speak louder than words, and he got the actions from Mac. I think they both got what they hadn't gotten in the past from the other. That's why they were so happy in McMurphy's. (NT) -- Ann, 21:13:52 04/30/05 Sat

ITA! You hit the nail on the head! (NT) -- JAG Junkie, 21:23:54 04/30/05 Sat

Ann I think you summed up perfectly what I had been trying to say but failing to do. (NT) -- Hope, 21:52:04 04/30/05 Sat

Personally, I LOVED the flashbacks!!! With the music, editing, they created new dramatic meanings for the past scenes! It is a tool to build up the story. This way, we had insights of Harm's and Mac's thoughts. I thought it was done nicely and appropriate for a finale!! (NT) -- Acer, 17:45:33 04/30/05 Sat

I love it and Im no shipper. As for us not hearing Mac's I love you read TH's comments way below. She wouldnt be with Harm if she does not love him. There's so much not done by TPTB but I enjoyed what we got than nothing. Few fans can play the blame game BUT MANY ARE CELEBRATING. (NT) -- nonshipper, 19:23:50 04/30/05 Sat

Except Mac was with Mic and she was with Webb too. By what you're saying here, that means that during those times Mac wasn't in love with Harm. Given that, I would think Mac absolutely needed to not only show she loved Harm, but tell him as well. I find it amusing that you bring up the blame game card when you either can't or won't continue a discussion civilly. That seems to be the 'I can't continue this discussion because I'm no longer holding all the cards' attitude many people have taken in the past. I'm over the moon that Harm and Mac are getting married. I'm not as chuffed however over the lack of detail follow up. Mac should have said I love you to Harm. She should have confirmed what her actions were saying. I don't think I remember Mac ever saying I love you to Mic, but she was less than a day away from marrying the man. She said I love you to Webb, but it didn't look like they were headed for the aisle. With both men, Mac showed affection and love (kissing, nuzzling, sleeping with them). Harm asked her to marry him, I think he deserved to get the actions and have the words as confirmation. So you can pull the blame game card and opt out of this discussion. I'll happily continue on with it as long as we can respect each others opinions without being petty.(NT)-- Skates, 20:31:11 04/30/05 Sat

For what it's worth, Skates, Mac did tell Mic, "I love you," a few times. Not many, and only once or twice did she tell him first. But she did tell him. (NT) -- Ann, 21:11:53 04/30/05 Sat

Actually, Mac told Mic once that I can recall - as he was leaving in Adrift II. Saw it as desperation on her part. Actually, considering that she said 'I love you' to both Mic and Webb and didn't really mean it, maybe it's better she DIDN'T say the words to Harm. Harm, on the other hand, has not said the words to any woman (that we've seen on the show). But when Mac made the mind-reading comment, I did want to turn that around on her and ask her if Harm was supposed to be one. (NT) -- Alia, 05:28:55 05/01/05 Sun
