In reply to: Melinda 's message, "First, why was Harm in mess dress in the final scene of FWAFS? Any other reason besides being eye candy for us? Also, why would the military is this day and age lose a good officer such as Harm or Mac instead of assigning a married couple together?" on 03:21:55 08/14/05 Sun

The reason we saw them dressed as they were had to do with the alternate endings. There were two other endings and in one of them both Harm and Mac were at a going away party given in their honor. Since there was no explanation given in the finale for their being dressed up I guess we have to use our imaganation as to "why?" In RL I believe the military does try to retain personel by keeping them as close together as possible. But JAG is TV, and they needed an out in case JAG got season 11. (NT) -- MAL..and I'm very thankful they didn't get season 11, 16:45:28 08/07/05 Sun

MAL is correct. In both of the other endings they had been to a going away party and the scenes continuted from that. So whatever ending we got they would have been it that dress. I guess wardrobe wise it was hard to change at the last minute, especially since it was the last scene. I have wondered if Mac's apartment scene was already shot too. So all that had to be done was Harm's apt. and the ending. (NT) -- JBgirlygirl - still stewing over only 7.5 min instead of a 2 hr ending which would have appropriate for a show that aired 10 YEARS, 08:42:14 08/08/05 Mon

The weird thing was that in the sides with the going-away party, all the players were there at the party too. So you'd think everyone would have been in dinner/mess dress at McMurphy's. There is even a line in the sides from the bartender commenting on the General's uniform as well as Harm's. So it's interesting that they changed clothes/uniforms for everyone but Harm and Mac before they filmed the scene. (NT) -- Ann, 12:48:17 08/08/05 Mon

Well, maybe they were feeling the budget, lol! Perhaps they didn't want to buy ole Biff mess dress for one scene, so they cut all the other actors except H/MAE out of the party scene. You never know. This is how I explain it. After the coin flip at the bar, Harm and Mac were highing off to some glamous venue to celebrate their engagement in style for the evening. Either that, or those were the only clothes that were both clean and not packed yet. Works either way. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^<, 14:00:50 08/08/05 Mon

In the Navy, they try to station spouses within 50 miles of each other (so they can live somewhere in between). However, two 0-5 positions in their field so close together would be very difficult to come by. (NT) -- Kate, 10:48:57 08/08/05 Mon

In one of the script versions there was someone standing by to marry them on the spot. So I chose to believe that they were dressed up to get married. Once they got the results of the coin toss, they'd immediately go get married and make the proper arrangements. (NT) -- Theresa, 16:57:05 08/08/05 Mon

I thought that too, except for the part of the script where Mac says they're getting married in either London or San Diego. Personally I would have loved to see a JP marry them right there. (NT) -- Barbie, 23:41:56 08/08/05 Mon

That was in one of the 3 endings. Harm had a JP standing by. So I guess it's is left up to us what they do next. Hey, that would be another good thread or has it already been done? . (NT) -- JBgirlygirl, 09:09:26 08/09/05 Tue
