Miss Earth Crowns New Queen

After three hectic weeks of preparation, the moment has come for 82 stunning young women from all over the world to shine on center stage and let their environmental advocacies be heard on the grand coronation night of Miss Earth 2006.

Carousel Productions proudly assembled outstanding candidates who do not only possess eye-catching beauty but, more importantly, a genuine dedication to help preserve and protect the environment. As Carousel President Ramon S. Monzon puts it, �It is very satisfying to be able to attract so many young women who want to get involved in Miss Earth�s environmental mission. It proves the youth today want to make a difference.�

From Day 1, the candidates have been busy touring the Philippines to spread awareness on global warming, Miss Earth�s environmental platform for 2006. �The candidates embarked on a promotional campaign against global warming that brought them to various schools and municipalities in Metro Manila and different provinces,� says Carousel Executive Vice-President Lorraine E. Schuck. �They were at the forefront sharing valuable steps one can take right now to cut global warming pollution.�

Aside from bringing worldwide attention to environmental issues, Miss Earth also promotes the Philippines as an ideal tourism destination. Together with the creative production team of ABS-CBN 2, Miss Earth will also highlight the vibrant sights and rich culture of the City of Manila and the picturesque provinces of Batangas, Laguna, Lucena, Palawan, Pampanga, and Quezon.

This interesting twining of the elements of a beauty pageant with a more relevant, cause-oriented thrust has made Miss Earth one of the highly-anticipated and competitive international beauty tilts. Going only into its sixth year, Miss Earth quickly rose to become a major event in the beauty pageant industry with more and more countries expressing their interest to participate each year.

Miss Earth will also have a delayed telecast in more than 70 countries covered by The Filipino Channel (TFC) and Star World, and also in some participating countries. The telecast on Star World is scheduled on December 9 at 9:00 P.M. with repeat airings on December 10 at 1:00 A.M. and 7:00 A.M., and on December 11 at 10:00 A.M.
