"Sam, would you be kind enough to give Natalie a jumping lesson?" Lauren asked. Samantha grunted. "Fine, fine. I was really hoping on riding myself though." Samantha said. Lauren shot Samantha a look. "I'd really appreciate this, Sam. I have to finish halter breaking Prince," Lauren said. "Oh, fine." Samantha said, giving in. She found Natalie sulking over by Smoothie's stall. "Where were you? I wanna ride, pleeease? You can give me a jumping lesson!" Natalie said. "Mom and I were talking. Okay, anyways, let's get Smoothies tack. I'll get the Saddle and your grooming tote, you carry the bridle," Samantha exclaimed. Once they had done that, Samantha helped Natalie get Smoothie on cross-ties. Natalie brushed him, and Samantha curried him and picked out his hooves. Then Samantha quickly tacked him up. Natalie buckled her helmet. She was looking all cute in tiny paddock boots, jodphurs, and a turtleneck with bits and spurs, etc. Natalie led Smoothie outside, and Samantha gave her a leg up. Thankfully, the ring wasn't occupied. They went in. "Natalie, walk him around on the rail for a few minutes," Samantha ordered. She lowered the jumps until they were very low cross-rails. The four jumps were all ready. "Now pick up a trot on the rail, and go around the jumps. I want you to go into a sitting trot," Samantha said. Natalie sat in the saddle, but bounced around since she was so small. Samantha chuckled. "Never mind, post," she said. Natalie laughed and started posting. After a few times at a trot, Natalie went into a canter. She tried to keep her butt in the saddle. "Now, walk once around the ring and then we'll jump. Practice your half-seat a little," Sam suggested. In 3 minutes, Natalie jumped the course. The first time was a little bouncy. The second time was great, except that Smoothie broke into a trot for a few seconds when he was supposed to be cantering. They did the course one more time, which went okay. Then Samantha helped put Smoothie away.
