Bogsdan was tacking up Rosie when he heard boots clicking on the ailse. He glanced up into the face of a smiling girl. Melanie Brooks reached out to stroke Rosie. "Hey, I'm Mel." (She's 12 too!!) Bogsdan smiled and introduced himself, then Rosie. Melanie's blonde ponytail bounced as she said suddenly, "Want to go on a trail ride with me? I'll show you Princess, my Arabian." Her eyes sparkled. "C'mon, we can do cross country!" Without waiting for a reply, she spun on her heels and hurried off to get Princess. A few minutes later, Melanie led a dapple gray mare down the ailse. Mel's green eyes sparkled as she jumped into the saddle. "Wanna race?" she challenged. "Sure, but hold on!" Bogsdan laughed, mounting Rosie. Melanie glanced over at him as they walked their horses down the trail, warming up. "So, are you from England or something? I mean, most kids in Kentucky don't have a British accent," she laughed. "Yeah, actually," Bogsdan replied. Perfect Princess, the 6 y/o Arab, jigged impatiently beneath Mel, ready for a gallop.
