Melanie arrived bright & early at the barn. After breezing through her chores, she tacked up Princess and mounted. She was wearing her safety vest, a t-shirt, gloves, a helmet, breeches, and knee high boots with tiny, rounded spurs. Princess tossed her head eagerly and whinnied loudly when she spotted her buddies Rosie and Spice. "Bye guys, be safe and have fun!" Jenny called from the barn. "Ok, bye mom!" Mel replied.
They spurred their ponies up a winding trail. Mel's Arab was 14.3 and felt very diffrent from Gamble. More familiar though. Mel gathered the reins and urged Princess up the trail at a steady trot. The others followed, chatting and laughing. It was a warm day with a soft breeze. By the time they reached the 3' course, the ponies were warmed up from walking, trotting, and cantering. The course was about 10 jumps spread out over a mowed field surronded on 3 sides by woods. "Who wants to go first?" Mel asked.
