We're going to ride down the trail, through the river, and into the pasture. There are 2 log jumps (2' high & 3'6" high) and we can also play tag there on horseback!

In single file the group of kids and their ponies trotted down the shady, sandy path that wound through the woods. Birds chirped & the sun shone. It was perfect riding weather! Everyone was talking about their horse, or upcoming shows...Melanie trotted in the lead on Princess, then Bogsdan, etc with the little kids up front & Cassidy and Samantha in the back. The trail widened to 2 abreast and Bogsdan cantered Rosie up until the mare was stride & stride with Melanie's horse. They cantered down the trail, talking and laughing. Then the sandy trail stopped at a wide, deep river. On the other side was a large, grassy field surronded by trees. "Ready?" Melanie called. Everyone was ready. She gathered the reins, squeezed, and Princess jumped into the river. The deepest part was at the mare's chest. Princess is 14.3hh. "Stephanie!" Mel called, pointing to Natalie. Natalie's little pony was forced to swim across. Stephanie cantered Spice through the water to help her sister. The riders splashed through, getting soaked but not caring. Once safely on the other side, they all saw 2 broad logs and a huge flat space. Melanie held up her crop and Princess snorted. "I'm it!" she yelled, suddenly digging her heels into the Arabian's sides. Princess erupted forwards into a canter and Mel leaned out of the saddle, tapping the closest person with the crop. "You're it Stephanie!" she exclaimed, darting away on Princess.

After our ride we can have a barbecue.
