It was 8:00 on a Saturday morning. Natalie ran into her parents' room, overlyexcited. "Mommy mommy! you promised me a less ons today! Come on mommy!" she chimed. "Nat, not now..." Lauren said, rolling over. She yawned loudly. "Mommy, hurry! the ring is already going to be taken!" Natalie said. "No, it isn't honey. But now that you've already woken me up, I guess we'll start getting ready," Lauren said. Natalie was already in her jodphurs, a horse shirt, and her small paddock boots which she had tried to tie herself but managed to get them tangled. Once Lauren was ready, she got breakfast for the two of them and helped tie Natalie's shoe. "And Natalie, Stephanie will be there later, she's sleeping now." Lauren said. "Still sleeping?" gasped Natalie. "she was up late last night," Jennifer exclaimed. They both walked out of the house and to the short distance to the stable.(which was practically on the property.) Natalie groomed Smoothie, and Lairen helped with the tack. "Can we jump today?" asked Natalie. "We'll have to see! You just recently learned to canter!" Lauren said. "How hard can it be?" Natalie asked. "Harder then it looks," Lauren said chuckling. Lauren gave Natalie a leg up once they were out of the barn. They went to the small outdoor arena with only a few crossrails. "Now be sure not to go near those jumps. Let's start out with a walk two times around the ring," Lauren called. Natalie did that, and tehn she picked up a small posting trot. Lauren admired how cute the little girl looked in the saddle. "Now let's do a sitting trot! Slowly, though!" Lauren commanded. Natalie did, but she bounced very high. "WE'll work on that later," Lauren said. (I'll continue later...)
