Subject: Hamilton of Motherwell

My Hamilton ancestors migrated to Canada in approximately 1905. Louise Jean Married John Crossett. I am also interested to know how many people with the last name Hamilton are living in Motherwell and Hamilton in in the 19th Century. How did one get this name?
