dunno - I noticed that american industry is very keen on finding out about what they politely circumscribe as "ethnical background" of their potential customers...
I've been translating several marketing research forms to be filled in by test candidates who had to give their opinion on a certain puter game or sommat...
I started hemming and hawing while trying to transfer the statistical parts...
I can see why they are interested in learning about their customers' income or education standard or whatever - so they can aim at a certain focus group - but I'm quite puzzled why they want to know whether a white or black young male lawyer of 30 (f.e.) likes playing game XY...
I don't get it...makes no sense at all.
but they are rather nosy...
at least they will ask for *ethnical background* (whatever the reason), not for nationality...and suggest possible answers like "white", "Carribean-American", "Asian" etc...(still don't get the point of asking such questions)
maybe our little friend Nathan had to fill in some form like that and got confused...
it's still freakish, though..
