Subject: The Fechs' estate (horse team)

The woman thinks for a moment before replying, meanwhile eyeing the group cautiously. She looks at Tukatula and Aldrai.
"If this is true what you say, then a criminal might be hiding out on the estate. For now, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and I'll help you follow this trail you mentioned, if there is such a thing. I hope for your sakes that you are telling the truth. We don't like trouble makers here and I'll go a long way to make sure that the lands of Count Fechs II are kept safe and peaceful. Show me this trail you were following and let us see if we can pick it up somewhere near here."
Tukatula and Baraka take the ranger to where the trail ended and she quickly begins searching the area for prints or other clues.
Meanwhile, Aldrai, who'd been casting a few curious looks at the young Krinin Fechs fell slightly behind the others and suddenly found herself more or less alone with the young lad at the far side of the clearing. He looks at her shyly a few times, always averting his head quickly when he sees the pretty human girl also looking at him. He puts his hands in his pockets and nervously scrapes a foot across the forest ground, still averting his gaze. Finally, he looks up again and blurts out: "Hi, I'm Krinin Fechs... ehm... and I'm eh... training to become a ranger!"
He shuffles around, slowly stepping from one foot onto the other. He's clearly nervous and if he is trying to hide it, he's not doing a good job at it.
"So... what's your name again?" he asks, finally bringing up enough courage to look Aldrai in the eye.

On the other side of the clearing, Enoya, the ranger, has picked up the trail the group were following and begins following it skillfully. Appearantly, whoever was or were here only made a few quick steps across the clearing and then made a 90 degree turn to head off in a new direction again.
"Look," Enoya says, pointing to a few very vague imprints in the ground, "there are at least three sets of footprints here, leading this way," she points in a westward direction, "Let's follow them and see where they lead."
Sythion coughs softly and nods. He's impressed with the woman's tracking skills although he won't admit it openly. He would have probably missed the prints altogether, mistaking them for natural holes. He concludes that whoever made these tracks must have had a light thread and says that to Enoya. She nods.
"Whoever made these tracks is experienced in forest travel and knows how to lose people."
"But why was the trail so easy to follow earlier on then?" Tukatula asks.
"My guess would be that they've probably led you here on purpose to either run into the guards here or to lose any persuers here at this clearing."
She straightens up.
"Let's get going."
Enoya follows the trail as it leads into the bushes again, much less clear to follow now suddenly, but her keen eyes manage to keep track of it without any visible effort. Sythion, Baraka and Tukatula are close behind her, followed at a short distance by Krinin and Aldrai.
The group follows the trail for another ten minutes, passing through half wild woodlands only. The woods are very much alive with birds in the trees and many small animals going about their daily business. Several times they see small squirrels jumping from tree to tree, or a woodpecker hammering a hole into a gracious elm tree.
Suddenly, Enoya raises a hand and the group stops abruptly.
"Look over there." she whispers softly.
The group look in the direction she's pointing. At first it's unclear what she's pointing at since the object of her attention has almost the same colour as the woods it's standing in, but it's moving slowly and after a moment, it becomes clear that there's a small goblin standing there with his back turned to the group. There is a soft rustling noise coming from his direction. Sythion grins as he realizes the goblin is urinating.
"Let's take him!" he whispers and begins to move towards the unsuspecting goblin, but Enoya stops him.
"I know goblins," she whispers back, "and believe me, where there is one, there are always more closeby."
She's barely said those words or a second goblin appears from behind a nearby tree and walks up to the first one. He says a few things to him the group can't make out from the distance and the first one nods and finishes up relieving himself. Then a third goblin joins the other two. He's leading three grey wolves and hands the reigns of one of the wolves to each of the other goblins. It looks as if the three are preparing to leave.
