There WAS context--the reference was made to "the blacks" who fought for civil rights in the US. That's very specific.

There are definitely a few issues getting mixed together in this discussion. The history of the way the conversation unfolded is probably just as important to the POV I'm taking here as is the original point itself, LOL.
