To borrow and alter a quote from Ram Dass, I am a Christian/Buddhist/Taoist/Pagan/Hinjew. I leave out Islam and Zoroastrianism as well as the many lesser known beliefs because I have not yet learned enough about them. All the denominations are good, but incomplete. Again, to quote Ram Dass: "Exoteric religions are there for people whose faith is insecure, and they need a real strict set of rules to follow." My faith is no longer that shakey. God is within us, not without. You sound pretty awake, so don't come down on yourself too hard. That list of flaws you give are really just illusions of the material world - they are not of the spirit! As one of my favorite ministers once said, "Day to day life is NOT reality, it is merely facts of experience. The connection with the higher self is the only true reality." Of course, as I know from past and current experience, this knowledge doesn't make one feel any less lonely or more accepted. Taking "the path less gone by" may seem harder at times, but will ultimately provide one with gifts the others cannot even imagine. Trust in that quiet voice in your heart. It was once said that if prayer is US talking to God, then intuition is God talking to US. To quote a song you've probably never heard by Michael Nesmith (one of the Monkees),
"Consider the source, and ignore if you can/
Whatever is said to undo the plan/
Consider the source and ignore it my friend/
You're doing just fine, Keep On Keeping On.

Keep in mind the difference between courage and will/
Don't be afraid to stop what you've begun/
The straight folks think that winning gives them license to kill/
But number good is better than number one."
