I like the internet, but I'm addicted to it, or at least was addicted. A couple months ago I had to go without internet access for a couple weeks. It was a very eye-opening experience because I started to realize the way the internet has a strong tendency to dominate my time. I was a little bored but developed a new hobby, rollerblading, and picked up a few books at the library. Now when I'm on the internet I keep that experience in the back of my mind and ultimately I have more control over how my time is spent rather than the internet having that monopolizing effect. Anyway I was forced to go cold turkey without the internet temporarily and it was a positive experience, I think television is probably a comparable addiction. Keep in mind that I live by myself; I'm impressed by the resistance others on this forum demonstrate when living with people who still watch television.
