There is a saying I frequently repeat to people when I see them being busy "being busy" - you know, spinning their wheels and looking impressive, but to no great affect. I remind them, "No one ever laid on their deathbed and wished they'd spent more time at work!" I guess we could alter that to, "No one ever laid on their deathbed and wished they'd watched more television."

On the subject of prison: There is a wonderful work done by Michael Nesmith (yes, one of the Monkees) called "The Prison" It is a small book with a soundtrack album, and one is supposed to read the story while listening to the music. It is a very unique experience, because at times what you are reading in the story and what is being sung in the music make a connection and create a third level of understanding. The basic story is about a character who escapes from a prison and meets a guide on the "outside" who shows him that the prison was a construct of his own mind. And indeed later the main character visits the prison and sees a bunch of cots out in an open field - no walls, no bars, no fences. Very thought provoking.
