Subject: Anti-TV-----Ummmm, no

I've seen a lot of flawed HOOKUM about how TV is evil and it's this and it's that blah blah blah.

Of course there's going to be commercial advertising. This is a capitalist society. And in capitalist societies, the whole purpose is to BUY AND SELL PRODUCTS. Sure, I'm not a big fan of capitalism, but hey, that's life.

TV LEADS TO VIOLENCE. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! THAT'S FUNNY. Did Jack the ripper have digital cable? nope. Not invented yet. What did Bin Laden watch before the terrorist attacks? Nothing. TV is (or was) illegal in Afghanistan. Or maybe Adolph Hitler liked his prime time? I don't think so.
Violence is caused BY MAN'S ANIMAL ROOTS. NOT TV

And yes, there is lots of sex and violence in TV, and yes, people will watch it. You know why? BECAUSE IT'S ENTERTAINING. Nobody wants to see some sugar coated happy-go-lucky garbage. THAT'S BORING. THERE'S no suspense, substance or anything. And no one wants to see some wimps solving a dispute through friendly communication. That's about as fun as watching paint dry.

Then there are the whining about it being unrealistic. WELL NO S**T. We all have boring REAL LIVES that we put up with every day. We Don't have amazing, larger than life experiences THAT ARE ENTERTAINING TO SEE. When you watch TV you want to think "hey Imagine that.." And as far as pretty-people go, YES THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE HOT CHICKS and Pretty/macho boys. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE SOME FAT HAIRY OLD BOOT or an ugly pimply loser type.

And now, onto the complaints about people not reading. GUESS WHAT. BOOKS CAN CONTAIN AS MUCH VIOLENCE AS A MOVIE OR TV SHOW. Ever read a Stephan King novel? People are constantly killed off. Or How about a Tom Clancy novel? Those are usually about war and terrorism. I've seen books in A FREAKING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THAT MENTIONED PEOPLE GETTING CHOPPED UP IN MACHINES.

Oh, you want people to get outside all the freaking time. What about people who live in cities? There aren't many nature trails in cities. Mostly just small parks and CONCRETE STREETS full of muggers and crazy drivers. They only see the outdoors if they go on AN EXPENSIVE VACATION. Sometimes that can take YEARS to save up for. Or what about people who live in colder places, such as Northern Canada or Russia? Not too fun to be out during those winter months. And What about people from, say Florida or some other rainy place? No one likes standing in pouring rain. TV may be provide some entertainment for THOSE PEOPLE.

TV also does provide people with education (ever heard of the Discovery channel?) and Also, the news you're so against. Guess it's wrong to know what's going on in the world.
