Subject: Gelding' swollen sheath

My 4 yr old Mustang gelding has a very swollen sheath for the past few days. When I first noticed it, I did a thorough cleaning w/warm water,ivory soap,and rinsed him well.Last month we removed a small bean while he was sedated for a choke episode,so this time I did not find any bean- but his sheath is still so swollen. Been giving bute and daily excersize, he acts totally normal,but the sheath is warm to the touch.
Question: how long till the swelling goes down after a thorough cleaning? My vet isnt worried about it,says give it a few days.But my poor guy, his privates look like a giant water balloon under there ! Any expeiance with this ?
