I had 2 mares that I bought at a sale and when we got them homethey acted like they had pnuemonia. We spent alot of money with the vet and then found out that they were both heavy. The dry conditions in the barn, dry feed, dry hay only made it worse. I started wetting their hay down before they ate it and even put a little water on their grain. You can then feed a little trihist powder in their feed. You should see a difference within a few days. Wetting the hay every time you feed really helps and it doesn't take too much time.
