I have known 2 horses that were hypp +/- that died within the last year. The disease prevents horses from properly utilizing potassium. They can have seizures, and if noone is around; die. The risk for seizures increases when you stress them out. so it is really important not to change their enviroment, feed, work levels, buddys, etc. quickly. One of the mares died after being put in a stall after a couple of months in pasture. Hope its helpful.
