She hears everyone back with this newcommer, and, after taking a deep sniff, knows that there are a couple more there as well. A short cut through the woods to where everyone was would be quicker than retracing her steps. Even after the Shadow of Rak describes that way as "shadowy, maybe dangerous", it doesn't bother the young wolf. Being blind means that her world is in a constant darkness, no shadowy area would deter her from reaching the rest of the pack.
