Sarquint and Piper

Piper, who had been playing idly with a dragon fly before her friend re-entered the pack, looks up in bewilderment at the masked wolf's announcement. Her little jaw drops– Lunaia's mother, dead? How? She thought her mother wasn't even around. Piper quickly gets up and scurries over to her friend. Her brow furrows at seeing Lunaia so... down. Getting as close to Lunaia as possible, Piper cuddles against her.

"It'll be okey, Lunay," she tries to comfort, her emerald green eyes watching the other pup closely. But now that she's so close, she takes notice of the new wolf, too, Ishtar. Unconsciously, a growl forms in her throat. Something smells... wrong about this wolf. Twisted, sickly. It goes beyond any feelings she might have that this wolf is Dark, it's something she senses deeper inside of her. Something unnatural.

Sarquint watches Edanya (Aynade?) steadily, and there is obviously no trust in him for the maned wolf. However, it is possible that this is another wolf the same species. Of course, he highly doubts that. He's not stupid, after all. "Very well, then," his voice is dangerously soft, "you may stay. But, for now at least, you may not go off alone. You've yet to earn my trust."

If Sarquint was going to deal further with the maned wolf, it's cut short by the entrance of Ishtar. The low, inaudible growl in the back of his throat is immediate upon seeing the masked wolf. This wolf, at least, he knows a DeathMaker. (And, oh, what he doesn't know). His message, however, does strike Sarquint. Lunaia's mother dead. Brandy. His daughter. The black wolf hangs his head; the child he had never been able to protect, harmed once more. And this time forever. The second of his children to meet death.

However, his grief does not blind him. His sharp green eyes quickly rise again to meet Ishtar's cold grey ones. This time his growl is more audible, and more threatening. Son of his sister or no... "You will not stay here, Ishtar," he says, spitting the name, though his voice is otherwise calm and restrained. "However, if you leave immediately, you will be permitted to go untouched. I suggest that is the course you choose. I will not have a DeathMaker free among my pack, and I will not have you influencing my grand-daughter."

He does not speak his suspicions on how Brandy might have died, and who her mysterious murderer might have been. Those are things Lunaia need not hear.
