Aynade nods in reluctant agreement with Sarquint's verdict. Why doesn't he trust her? Why does he think she's dark? She's never been to this "deathmaker clan" in her life...! Unless the gap in her memory has something to do with it?

Then Ishtar pads in, and confusion flares in dark amber eyes. He's familiar and yet she's certain she's never seen him before... Who in the world...? Something's definitely wrong with him, but maybe it's just something is wrong with her.
