Subject: The View LIVE report!!

First, apologies for my absence of late. Too much work; too little time to get it done. I WILL be getting bak to my emails shortly (hopefully!!). Thank you for your patience ;-).

Yes, work be damned, Scott was in town and there was no way to miss the opportunity! So, after striking out repeatedly in our attempts to secure tickets, Barbara and I arrived at the standby line at 7:45 a.m. Tickets holders had to be there by 10 with the rest of us filling in any remaining seats. Despite the early hour, there were already 8 people ahead of us (although two chickened out and left). We spent the time counting the heads of those going in with tickets and discussing Scott, of course. No one else on the line in our vicinity was there for the same reason ;-(.

Fortunately, the taping was light and the entire line of standbys was able to get in (I'm guessing there were finally about 35 of us in line). After long, long waits at security (better than you'd get at most airports!), we found ourselves in the studio jockeying for the best viewing seats we could get. The biggest surprise? They actually let you take pictures during the show (non-flash) and allow flash during commercials! Of course, had I known I'd have come better prepared....

skip skip to the commercial before Scott was coming on...and those of us with eagle eyes noted that the 'door' to the set opened slightly and there was Scott standing with a PA who seemed to be pointing out where he should go when it's his turn. Needless to say, at least two hearts fluttered at the sight. Very nice black leather jacket, btw ;-).

What we didn't realize is that they move the sets during the commercials, as well. When we originally saw the couch way in the bak, we were concerned about not getting a good view of Scott. Fortunately, when they moved the set, they moved in right down front, affording us a great sight....not as close as I would have liked, of course, but still quite nice!

If you saw the show, you know that Lisa Ling oohed and aahed (and called him 'cute')and Barbara Walters got him all choked up because he spoke about his trip to Ground Zero. Then (due to WGL)their discussion went to extended families and BW clarified with Scott his relationship with Chelsea and how his children accepted her. It was quite revealing and I think Scott might have been ill at ease discussing it (he's always preferred to keep those things private), but he handled it with his usual aplomb and was as charming as ever. I know he also talked at length about the movie and his feelings about women (being more interesting than men, that is *g*), and I'm hoping my vcr got it all, because it was really hard to concentrate ;-).

He didn't get to stay through a commercial, but did say goodbye to everyone off camera. The best moment, IMHO, is when he turned around at the door and saw Barbara waving frantically. He actually seemed to light up with recognition and waved back! I hope that he did realize that we were there to support to him. Heck, if it was good for us (duh!!), sure wanted it to be good for him ;-).

Hopefully, Barbara will also have a chance to post her impressions of the day. And boy, Scott sure does leave an impression ;-)!!!
