Recount, Broadway Danny Rose, and The Darjeeling Limited

Recount is a great little movie. I felt really stupid watching it because I began following politics again during this whole debacle. Even though I watched it on Ephedrine while I had an entire week off work, I didn't put any of the processes together. To me it was just a big mess and I assumed there was really nothing going on behind the scenes. They count on this and now I'm up their asses and will continue educating myself ON SPEED and learn as much as I can.

Finally saw Broadway Danny Rose. It's a tad flip but there are moments when Allen really shows tremendous emotional range. Like the scene where he finds out that he was responsible for the beating of a low-rent performer. He's really able to convey a sense of pain over it that I found astonishing. That scene alone made it work but it was of course funny enough when compared to the typical trash that is offered up as comedy.

The Darjeeling Limited. I didn't get it. I never get Anderson's movies the first time around. They are so character driven and the characters so odd and complex that I don't feel stupid. In fact, I feel smart that I've identified why I don't like them at first but eventually end up appreciating their brilliance. Owen Wilson plays the usual character but with much more of an edge this time. He was still likeable but he was kind of a dick and I've never seen that dimension before. I got a feeling this is going to sink in deep with me (lots of Catholic overtones in juxtaposition to a foreign GODLESS--just kidding--culture.)

But in comparison to There Will Be Blood all these movies are faggotty faggots. There Will Be Blood and Daniel Day Lewis will blow you away...assuming you're a bad-ass...like me.
