Date Posted: 23:08:34 01/17/08 Thu Author Host/IP: c-71-197-21-7.hsd1.mi.comcast.net/71.197.21.7 In reply to: Rhonda 's message, "Re: New Hampshire" on 20:48:19 01/17/08 Thu "Edwards is a panderer and has a one note campaign." Okay, so anyone who holds populist views is pandering? I disagree with the notion that he has a one note campaign. I'd argue he has a cohesive message that addresses many issues under its umbrella. "He is a tort lawyer who rails against corporate america (jobs) and has won multi million dollar lawsuits against insurance companies," Yeah, those fucking tort lawyers. O.J. got nailed with a civil suit but let's stick to those benevolent corporations who volantarily take responsiblity for their actions. Is it the lawyer's fault who tried the case that the Corporate Devils will simply recoup their losses on the consumer? I don't take that bait. Whose to blame for the seemlessy never-ending rise in oil prices? Corporations are going to raise their prices irregardless; don't let them blame it on a man whose fighting for the people. "...which 1) have driven insurance costs to the consumer thru the roof..." Go rent "The Rainmaker." "...and 2)he profited by taking 40 to 50% of the victims settlement to line his pockets." That's a point he's got to overcome but short of giving away all his money and living modestly what is he to do now? Does his wealth preclude him from seeking public office? You're correct in recognizing the hypocrisy but when all is said and done, it's simple class politics twisted by the right. What, they're allowed to have dough because they promote their selfishniss and greed? The flip side of Edwards wealth is that he was able to finance his own campaign. Just kidding. That's another point where one could attack him but to his credit he's stayed on message and has gotten zilch from the Corporate Fat Cats. Hillary got more money from the Defense Industry than everybody including Rudy. But back to Edwards personal wealth, who isn't involved in politics without a little dough in their wallet? They're all rich before they run. Successfull, charismatic people usually are and those are the ones who seek office. Now Al Gore's hypocrisy is another matter entirely. Just to prove I see your rationale and that I'm capable of practicing it myself Gore infuriates me by not living PIOUSLY by his own rules. What a phoney! He's the type that strikes me as do as I say, not as I do. I don't get that vibe from Edwards in the least. Regarding Johnny's spoils from his ambulance-chasing days, what is the standard percentage of a trial lawyer? In the movies it's always 33%. "That man is no friend of the middle class." I disagree. Wall Street is no friend of the middle class and they are the ones handing out the money to the other candidates running. What do you consider a friend to the middle class? The one whose risking his chance for the Presidency by embroiling them while knowing full-well, under the current system that he's basically shooting himself in the foot without them? We need campaign finance reform and we need it immediately. It's not a matter of free speech. I see it as a salary cap that you see in sports. Some rich guy still owns the team but now he can only spend so much money so that smaller markets have a chance and the league can stay vital. "He was a horrible and innefectual Senator who got nothing passed in the Senate, nor did he do anything for his constiuency in NC." That's not true. Didn't he depose Monica Lewinsky? Just joking but I think that's when I first heard of him. Actually, I don't even think he was in the Senate yet. He was elected that fall and I remember that whole mess going on that September. Those were good times. We had all just come together over at the old JTJ. Can you believe it's been ten years? Anyhoo, unlike Al Gore he actually did play a key role in the ever-evolving internet and the dangers it poses. He's for amnesty but at least he's been actively involved in border security. "You want more?" Yes Ma'am. You should try sitting on my face when you say that. Damn, that honestly just turned me on. (Read my new poem where I rave about Ann Coulter) "Oh and you're right, Mitt is coming on strong." Romney strikes me as the type of lunatic who will not give up. LOL! That reminds me of Gene Simmons on "The Celebrity Apprentice" last night. You been watchin' that? This is one I'm gonna get into. Stephen Baldwin is hilarious and that Brit is a bastard. Anyway, I don't think under normal circumstances Romney would have a prayer but he's got so much dough he can stay in this thing competively the whole way. Personally, every primary or caucus he and Huckabee win is only helping Rudy. Keep the faith til the 5th. "Huckabee is giving me the creeps more everyday." I've liked him for quite some time. Since I saw "I Heart Huckabees" at least. He's not too bad and his manner of speech and the subjects he addresses and the way he addresses them I find appealing. He's like the nice Baptist Minister in town that's decent enought to only talk shit about your religion behind your back. His teeth are abhorrent. I get the feeling that he has calitosis (sp?) "Did you see Bill's meltdown with a reporter? God, that man is such a fucking tool." Yes and it was awesome. I GAURENTEE Olberman's stomache contracted when he saw that. He wants so badly to beleive that Bill is nothing more than a bully that will back down when faced with confrontation. Olbermann NEEDS to beleive that because it's completely obvious he is a first-rate coward like Limbaugh who NEVER allows an opposing viewpoint to challenge his. These fucking hacks on the dulusionally-cretinous far-left. Stewart is always all over those--like Chris Matthews--who understand that this country was founded on heated debates. Although Stewart is nieve OR overly sanctimonious regarding the shows that feature surrogates and loons and their non-budging stances, at least he's funny. Olbermann thinks he's funny and he's so fucking dry. I actually laughed at something he said the other night and I realized it was the first time I did so in the 3 years I've been tracking and monitoring him (though I also did laugh at something on "30 Rock" that didn't come or have anything to do with Alec Baldwin. I must have gelatinous with fatigue that night). This fall is going to suck...DICK!!! Unless Rudy rallies I'm going to be stuck without a viable candidate to vote for. Huckabee's fine but only as a V.P. That'd be perfect for that wierdo. Romney's so shameless it's almost starting to become hilarious so maybe I can get behind that. I did like his speech regarding his faith. Every American Catholic should have been behind him on that one; our boy went through the same thing...before they shot him. McCain's stance on amnesty will never change and I don't believe he'll do a thing to rectify this problem that is destroying our country. I guess, all things considered, Fred Thompson as good as one can get when you're looking for a poor man's Reagan. Of all the candidates he is the closest. Ron Paul has no chance in hell and though he says he won't run third-party something tells me he will. His base is passionate and they'll draft him to do so. But what will that accomplish? What's the point? I'm not cynical enough (yet) to not vote as many involved Libertarians do. I'm going to vote; it's been drilled into my head plus I'd feel fucking guilty following politics so closely and bitching about them zealously if I didn't even get out and vote. This is precisely why I want Bloomberg to run. I won't vote for him but his candidacy opens up a Pandora's Box (what is that?) and I'm convinced it will draw a viable fourth party candidate into the race. THEN, we can passionately vote for a candidate who we truly believe in; one who reflects all our values and doesn't merely try to cynically encapsulate a proven message that resonates enough with the credulous who seem to enjoy a candidate who cynically mocks values they claim to hold dear. Who knows, it will be the Fall and I'm always very happy during that season. I may feel so good that I'll buy into Obama's bullshit and kill two birds with one stone as I alleviate my own personal white guilt.
