"It makes me wonder why I sit down for this shit."

Because you're a coward. Just kidding. It's because you're lazy.

"Makes me wonder why I would tell anyone they should see it even though it will only piss them off, (and no matter your political stripes) hopefully for the same reasons."

I've been pissed off about this shit for years. Not necessarily health care but the whole European lifestyle as compared to ours. One drunken night I had an epiphany that I should stop lovingly attacking my brothers and sisters and turn my anger solely against the powers-that-be. But like Carlin said: "It's a big club...and you ain't in it." We have to keep attacking each other so long as motivation is the aim.

Like you I'm considered by many to be a lazy fuck but I can assure you that this is not the case. I don't waste a single minute of my day and everything I do is geared towards my ultimate and absolute ends. I've taken the goal-setting platitudes too seriously. Or have I?

If I lived in France, or even England or, shit, even Canada, I could be living the life I wanted to. I've known this for years. But my loyalty runs deep. Well FUCK IT! I'm loyal to myself and to my family. This country is a cess-pool and I don't like what it's turning me into.

We live self-awaringly in the know and it's cripplinng us. While I feel sorry for those who will toil the rest of their lives away in a meaningless existence I can no longer worry about them. They'll never see the light. Moore is already well-off and therefore he can fight for them. I'm not going to wait to simply be able to send my daughter off to live in Europe to broaden her perspectives. I'm going there myself.

"It makes me reconsider my entire allegiance to a country
that is so obviously about money over the well being of its meekest and most helpless citizens (and fuck you "pull yourselves up by the bootstraps" conservative dildos', the people getting fucked here are just as hard working as the rest of the world, the only difference is their governments don't funnel their taxes straight to corporations)."

YEAH!!! This is exactly what Elitists like Kylopod do not understand. And it makes me wonder why they despise Moore's films so much. Why they are immune to such muckraking. But I don't care about that. They're immune and we're grabbing the pitchforks. Who cares? Moore knows that is how is going to reach 'these' unwashed fucks.

"It makes me wonder why the simple combination of fear mongering and intrinsic servitude toward personal debt works so well to keep people in this country from revolting against their government, or why I haven't understood more fully why I should have been doing something about it to begin with."

The Brit in the film had some good points on that but the Frenchmen summed it up best. Their governments are afraid of them and we are afraid of ours. And the types that aren't afraid go apehsit and shoot up schools.

"At least I didn't try to buy a house on a sub-prime loan, but many did."

Hey, they wanted to live outside their means. I lost my house...because I never wanted it. THANKS MEECHELE YOU FUCKING CUNT!!!

"These assholes want you in debt with no savings, shit scared of losing your job, too busy paying bills and saddled with just enough of an attention span to be scared of the "terrorists"."

Well no shit. I haven't bought anything besides food, books and movie tickets (and, of course, liquor, smokes and drugs) since I got out of the Marines. The only new clothes I have have been gifts. I don't miss any of it. But I do take advantage of the luxuries I'd purchased prior to my awakening like this computer or my nephews Playstation 3.

"It made me wonder why more people haven't woken up to the fact that, if we're supposed to be the greatest country in the world, then why does every other civilized country have a better quality of life?"

First of all it's because the typical American is blessed with his confidence in his own ignorance and this fuels the boot-straps sentimentality. Look, we all come from our different backgrounds but the people I know can be deduced to fit the following sweeping generalizations. Most of the guys I know are like Sean Hannity. The rest are like Jeff Probst (I realize that's out of right field but I was stoned a few weeks ago when I realized how valuable an example Probst is while I was watching Glen Beck--who I'd never seen before--carve him up. That Beck is a bad mother fucker when he's being subtle). The girls I know don't matter because they all share the Oprah mentality. It's true and we all know it.

These people would never have the balls to quit their jobs except for maybe the Probst types but they are so hung up on achieving success that they are blinded to everything else. Think they've ever read a book they didn't buy in the self-help section? How are they going to figure out their lives are a lie when they have nothing to contrast it with. VISION!

"That pisses me off because America can be better,"

LOL! Dude, this fucker's sinking. Move.

"...not because some other place is, but because it should be the greatest country in the world."

Why should we be?

"We should be the model of good governance, fairness, and compassion for its citizens that the rest of the world looks up too."

Like the Founders were?

"And with the balls to defend itself properly."

That's the duty of the poor.

"Here, not "there". President Clinton II just took on a hollow ring that I didn't think it would because she's bought into the same interests she once railed against."

Or is she USING them?

"She voted for the bankruptcy bill that put the credit card companies in control of not only consumer debt, but aided the deregulation of the same lending practices that are presently about to sink our economy into recession."

Yeah but she's white. Obama will do the same thing. His campaign of hope is as hollow as Probt's ability for critical thought.

"Lobbyists make the laws. Universal Health Care won't mean dick unless she destroys the current private insurance system. It almost gives me more faith in McCain. Sad."

The institutions of this country will not allow her. It's time to stop depending on politicians. Are our votes meaningless? Obama just proved they are. He's as cynical as the rest of them and France would laugh his candidacy out of existence.

"But mostly this film made me wonder why more people weren't aware that they are being controlled not by the rule of law, but the law of rule."

Just be glad you realize it because you are capable of responding to the real score. Don't worry about everybody else they will only drag you down. The American mind-set is like that of a drowning victim. The lifegaurd goes out to save them and gets pulled under. Lifegaurds need training because they react to not how the person they are saving 'should' respond but to how they actually will respond. It's fear that makes the drowning victim pull his hero down with him. Damn, that's a pretty good analogy. I could be a Baptist preacher.

"OK, I'm done. Sorry I bored Blake. Not a fun blog (but for escapist purposes I'll be advocating targeted assassinations of those I consider key players)."

"Now, you're talking. We're to that point. That's why I'm leaving. Sorry I pissed off Van Wink and film junkie and maybe Chris, too. You know you're right. God, guns, guts, and Glenn fuckin' Beck."

HOLY SHIT!!! I've never heard you reference Beck and this is really the first time I'm reading any of this. This could be a sign. Somehow, Beck is involved.

"Don't worry, he isn't a key player."

Who Beck? You might want to look into his role. He may not be a key player but he could make a nice example.

"At least I'm paying attention to one critic's rule, though."

FUCK THE RULES!!! The rules of law or the law of rules?

"Considering my audience."

Fuck them, too. A writer writes for himself!

Very insightful take on "Sicko," Mr. B.

And I'll tell you to ignore the name Michael Moore, though pretty much everyone else should see Sicko.

9.9 of 10

P.S. This movie is only short of perfect because Moore does pull that sailing to Cuba stunt. He could have had everyone on board till then.
