It was mentioned in Martin Gardner's 1957 book Fads and Fallacies in the Name of Science, which deals with everything from flat earth and flying saucers to ESP and Scientology. Here is the relevant section: "The resemblance of whites to chimps forms an important part of a book which had considerable vogue in England and the United States when it first appeared in 1924. It was called The Mongol in our Midst, and was written by a physician named Francis G. Crookshank.... There are three major branches of the human race, Crookshank argues--White, Oriental, and Negro. The White branch is closely related to the chimpanzee, the Oriental to the orangutan, and the Negro to the gorilla. (pp. 157-8) I used to own Gardner's book, until my cat urinated on it and I had to trash it. I was referring to libertarian tendencies within the GOP itself, not to the Libertarian Party, which people like Tucker may differ strongly with.
