Let me share the impetus for my whiskey-fueled harangue (can you harangue through print? If not, then whatever the word for print harangue is) Vicente Fox got coddled by every Pundit I saw this week save for O'Reilly--though I can't speak to whether or not Fox accepted Lou Dobb's invitation. The scary thing about the conversations was that Jon Stewart and Bill Maher, for example, have torn the Bread-and-Butter play out of Rove's playbook. They have constructed a narrative and our dismissing such issues as national sovereignty with a brazen dismissiveness that evokes O'Brien's demeanor to the beleaguered Winston (which is going to be my son's middle name). Actually, not even that democratic. At least O'B. would hear Winston out before smashing his arguments. Maher, especially, speaks to immigration like he does to Evolution (which isn't cool. Look, I feel sorry for people who believe in Creationism but that's still their beliefs he's rudely mocking). But I don't care about that aspect. At least there was a time where Maher was willing to debate them (albeit with Elitist fervor) but now he acts like your dead to him if you actually believe it. Whatever. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it (I'll rest on the seventh day--is that blasphemy? I don't think so but I'd like everyone's take for shits and giggles). But the whole immigration debate is one worthy of secular debate. I want the ones here to assimilate and I wish the whole world could join us in the land of the free but that is impossible. Please build a fence. NOW!!! The American people want it. But fuck that for the moment. The Mexicans 'have' to assimilate. I don't mean that in any mean or military sense of the word. I just don't want to be living in a country that will one day be partitioned. Ask the Kurds how that feels. It stings. I was in the gas chamber and that left no vestigial effects (I could have found a better word than vestigial for this context but I'm SO PUMPED about Emotional Ethology right now that my brain is swimming in all its heathen glory). Please talk to your friends Trejo and Rodriguez and show him that Micks can drink whiskey, hate the queen and celebrate The Romanized Brit who civilized these brutes once a year. That the Wops can drink Red Wine while they stain their guido collars with spaghetti sauce while verbally abusing everyone in their path save for their dear sweet mama. And that Jews have expressed their multiculturalism by taking control of their own living wage by starting their own businesses so they can celebrate their Holidays in a country that recognizes Sunday as the day off and High Holidays not recognized by the Federal Government--proving they don't run the banks. And also I have it on good--though monstrously surprising--authority that Jews are not very punctual. I've never heard of J.P.T. (Kylo, did you use that in your blog? If so, I apologize for what would seem like stealing.) Speaking of stealing (the young, good-hearted Catholic Boy says with a smile on his face that emits peace, love and understanding), even the blacks have finally got their piece of the pie-yi-yi-yi-YIE!!! And they've taken more shit than anybody. Sorry for not exemplifying their culture but, to be honest and I swear not mean-spirited, I don't really like it. No, I refuse to tease them because it's still too soon. I get that. But I ball with the brothers and sports was their path to a foothold. If they are able to palliate the Middle Class with this framework then the America we know could finally be coming to an end. Watch out for Robert Rodriquez's new one called "Machete." Granted it's 70's style exploitation feel is meant to appeal to the smug ironic in the average American. But, I don't think 20 million Illegals joining us tonight will see it that way. It's SUBVERSION!!! So what's the solution? I'm not going to turn by back on the rest of the world. And not only because God rewards me when I don't (Case in point, a few weeks ago I casually mentioned the guilt I had for all the Russians from the Cold War Eighties my Church, Family and President raised me to think of as soul-less villains. Then I said how great they are at chess. I didn't know at that time that Gary Kasparov was running for President and has a new book out that he is promoting. Not only is this mother fucker brilliant (I will read this book! I like applying seemingly inconsequential hobbies to my Real Life!), but, in a foreign tongue he ran circles around not only Maher--I only say that because this was toe-to-toe and Maher walked right into the worst thing he could say, even though I know he got it from Bobby Kennedy, that the Russian people respond only to strength. Very calmly, Kasparov gave a brilliant example about South and North Korea. WE WERE ASSHOLES!!! And I thank Michael Moore for going there years ago to give the rank-and-file Russkie a face. Though...THOUGH!!! YES!!! That was either '94 or '95 but certainly no earlier and my first empathy for the Russians came in the fall of '93 when I woke up early for school and watched a little CNN and they were showing all these old ladies standing in line for food because the economy had just collapsed. I felt sorry for the old lady and I loved her. She reminded me of my Hungarian Grandmother. Anyway, Kasparov played Colbert's game and, though he far from dominated him, clearly emerged the victor on points marking only the second time I've seen a guest...get the best...of Stephen and his mess. Caitlin Flanagan was the other one and I rushed out to by her answer to Faludi Feminism. WHEW!!! My throat hurts. So dry. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
