I have purchased my BB from John Blackwell and I have to say I’m very impressed with the temperament. Currently I’m training him for Schutzhund & I’m very happy (like everyone else that I train with) with the clarity exhibited in his training. He is doing all 3 phases very well and if all goes according to plan we should accomplish a Schutzhund 1 before fall of this year.
My boy is a combination of breeding dogs from John & David’s stock. I’ve on more than one occasion been invited down to Dave’s place and was present and as a matter of a fact did the helper work on Gordo during the demo for the local law enforcement. At the time I was a novice helper but I wasn’t really impressed with his bite pressure. It was like He was not really comfortable working in his surroundings. All an all I guess the routine was not a very good one because no one was impressed.
I can be pretty sure that it wasn’t the training because the dog did everything correct but David called it right. Some dogs work better in there backyard. Not to say Gordo is not a good dog but he is just not a special dog (when it comes to working). Norman put down great foundation work and training with Gordo and the mare fact he was able to accomplish a Schutzhund title with him speaks volumes of his training methods and experience.
