From your post,
"The last thing I want to do is lament about the "working" Boerboel that doesn't exist anymore because we all turned a blind eye and refused to help."

Sharon B...You obviously miss my point, when you say, "we all" who the heck are you talking about? Yourself? Others like you? You speak only for yourself and what you know? The registries have turned a blind eye to this for so long now they are part of the problem...I know many who are working their dogs with or without the blessing of any group or registry...the working Boerboel exists today not because of a registry from country of origin but from the concerted efforts and hard work of dedicated and experienced breeders devoted to preserving and improving their stock. Breeders from all parts of the World mind you, not country of origin, who has had to be dragged to this conclusion after a decade of confusion. Good for them, probably not so good for the breed...why turn over the improvement and preservation of the breed to the last group to understand the need??

From your post..."I commit to do my part in making sure that doesn't happen." Where has your committment been thus far?

Working groups are great, get together, have fun, but please do not turn over the breed at this point to people who are just now asking the question, "WHERE DO WE START"

If they have not already started, if they do not know how to start, or where the starting point was...don't let them lead.

I too appluad Mr. Brennans concern, and privately in our conversations have wished him well, that goes for you too.

Again to my post, I wish there were a group of dedicated, experienced, well positioned Boerboel breeders out there who collectively could and would work together to preserve...not re-shape... this breed in its finest form. If that group is just now gathering to find a starting point, I am less than giddy about its ultimate success.

Hear, hear indeed.
DKH
