David,

First off, my post was not directed at you. I have always admired your dogs and what you have done with the breed. The intent of my post was a general statement for anyone concerned about where this breed is headed.

"Sharon B...You obviously miss my point, when you say, "we all" who the heck are you talking about? Yourself? Others like you? You speak only for yourself and what you know?"

This is a general statement directed to everyone who has an interest in preserving the heritage of the working Boerboel, breeder or buyer.

"I know many who are working their dogs with or without the blessing of any group or registry...the working Boerboel exists today not because of a registry from country of origin but from the concerted efforts and hard work of dedicated and experienced breeders devoted to preserving and improving their stock."

I agree with this statement.

"why turn over the improvement and preservation of the breed to the last group to understand the need??"

I don't think anyone said that the breed should be turned over to anyone. Breeders have the ultimate responsibility for the health and shape of the breed.

"gain to my post, I wish there were a group of dedicated, experienced, well positioned Boerboel breeders out there who collectively could and would work together to preserve...not re-shape... this breed in its finest form."

There are a few dedicated and experienced Boerboel breeders out there. Unfortunately they are in the minority, and they are not part of a formal "group". If EBBASA is the registry that wants to try to organize a working group, then I say give them a chance. It is a step in the right direction. If it doesn't work out after a few years, there is no harm done. Dedicated breeders committed to the working heritage of the breed won't follow a registry blindly if they don't agree with its direction or principles.
