I wonder if an announcement by any registry or body , would really free some people up to go buy a farm. Then they can do a bit of hunting with them and get them to help out with stock work. On occasion they will need to show a desire to protect and defend, and since this announcement , these folks will feel OK culling specimens that may not be good around family and kids.
Obviously this is not so, l sure dont condemn any group or body that realises work has to be included in the search for good BB's , but if folks were not inclined to do this already, no time to be parading about it now. I do not breed boerboels, but the one l have was tested through and through. She was reliable , athletic , stable , tough and protected my girls at all cost. l found this was not so in many of the BB's l met thereafter, to replace this dog l would look to someone who uses , tests and culls their dogs because they believe that to be the right thing to do, not because it is the new thing to do.
The idea is good, dont get me wrong, but the way it is approached can be just a diversion to keeping the boerboel real, by giving breeders a working cloak to hide under.
Just an outsiders view really, many breeds have done the working club deal, but forget to really test and select for what that breed really did
regards Tony
