Subject: That is very stand up, but let me clarify my post
In reply to: DKH 's message, "Re: Lee, if you have something to say..." on 10:36:41 10/23/10 Sat

I don't want anyone to misunderstand my post. I have been very busy so I didn't want to go into detail on things I had already posted. I have seen and worked about a dozen boerboels to date, which is a small percentage of the breed...and only a few came from your program (some direct, some indirect). My post about wanting to see more drive and nerve is NOT about "YOUR" dogs, but about the breed in general. I am not bashing ANY of your dogs. Neither am I bashing the breed. I do know good boerboels do exist...I would just like to see them to be more of the standard than the exception.

DKH, I think your dogs were some of the most impressive dogs PHYSICALLY that I have seen..be it a boerboel or any other breed. One that comes to mind quickly that everyone here is familiar with is Gordo. I liked Gordo, and I think he showed good potential and Norman did very well with him. I have spoken very positive on him in the past...but I don't think you would be surprised to hear me say he could have used more nerves...but that you probably already knew. Norman did a lot with him, and the dog was physically very impressive. On drive, IMO, he showed potential, but I would have trained him differently and tried to tap into a fight response when in training. I think working a Molosser like a GSD is a mistake in general. GSDs are more cerebral while molossers and bully breeds tend to be more physical. He seemed to lack a little nerves, but he obviously is one of the most accomplished dogs in the breed.

That said, my comments DKH are NOT about your dogs...and again was just about the breed in general. I am still interested in the breed's potential, as I do see some impressive specimens of the breed even if not as consistently as I would like for a PP breed.

You seem very stand up and if I was ever going to get a boerboel you or Tashi would be the first people I would contact.
