Tina is exactly right, a 'coon in the water can simply drown an inexperienced dog, and quick. But, I will say this, I agree with your statement that "most Boerboels" would not fare well against an 80# Pitt...Most people do not know how fast a 'kept' dead game 80# Pitt can wade past another dogs will and ability to stand and fight...and that is a good thing not to know. Back in the day, we really discouraged this kind of comparison, we have NO inclination to tempt ANYONE with ideas of introducing Boerboels to the illegal and unethical world of dog-fighting...While it is certain that Boerboels are very tough, and LOTS bigger than any Pitt, trust me, as a breed the Boerboel is no-where near the standard of 'game' when it comes to fighting.

I used Pitts for the first half of my life for farm/utility/catch work and as PP dogs (much to the dismay of old game bred fans) I would never want my good Boerboels up against one, any more than I would pick a fight with some Joe out of the UFC.
