Subject: My male has bone cancer, how common is it compared to other breeds?

Our male "Sancho" has been diagnosed with bone cancer in his right rear leg :~( He is getting along ok and limps a bit at times and at other times walks and runs on it. The vet said it is not real bad yet and has him on some pain pills if pain persist or worsens. He is totally active and guards the house and does all his normal routine eagerly. I am sure that will change in time. This is so hurtful to us. You all know the bond these dogs have with us. One heck of a breed. I was wondering how cancer rates in this breed compared to other breeds?

I know no one breed is safe from this or other diseases, but I seem to remember reading about this breed not having as many problems as other breeds. I know alot has to do with being in particular lines I'm sure. I cant see myself with out my boy let alone this breed. Thanks for any input. I am very interested in a David Harris pup, as I have been saving up money since before we found out about our boy having cancer.
