Its a sad story and one I'm definately going to follow. Not far for me to drive and rally if they decide togive the BLEEPER minimum punishment.

As for the question a to wether a boel is better than a GSD or Mal, IT goes either way.

A GSD or a Mal is more apt to speed. THey can catch a fleeing pep with much more ease than a boel can. As for detaining one, I'm more on the boerboel side. If someones to break in and needs to be held and can hold its own, a boerboel or larger guardian breed is proably your better bet.

All dogs have their fautls, and just like people, none is perfect.

IMO, for a patrol work, I'd prefer to have a GSD, for riot and crowd control or home/property invasion, I want my boerboels. Each hs its purpose. I think they would work out great as a team.
