I would want "OUTCROSS" to be tightly bred on the desired traits. The tighter "OUTCROSS" is bred on the desired traits the better.

There is NO CONCERN of inbreeding risk coming from "OUTCROSS" being too tight since I will be outcrossing this dog to a TOTALLY strange line, "My Line."

The offspring, F1, will not go back to "OUTCROSS" so inbreeding on "OUTCROSS isn't a concern.

No matter how tight "OUTCROSS" all the inbreeding/linebreeding coefficient will be a matter of how tight "My Line" is, not "Outcross."

Anyway, I hope what I am saying is clearer than mudd.

For example, if you have a TIGHTLY BRED line of APBT and bred it with a line of boerboels...the offspring would not be any tighter bred than if the APBT was scatterbred. HOWEVER, the litter will be more consistent. And, consistency for the desired trait is important.
