Truman should not have been at the appraisal. Rick knows the dog is no good and did not need an SABT judge to tell him that. Every breeder produces a bad dog from time to time. Genetics are only so predictable--nature has a mind of her own. One mark of a good breeder is how he honors his agreements and learns from his mistakes.

Michelle, as far as I can tell, Rick has never dishonored his agreement with you. Rick is a little rough around the edges, and has little desire for "touchy-feely" discussions. Be direct. State what you want and what you think is fair. Rick will keep his word.

One thing to keep in mind... it is not right to take one dog from a breeder's program and say that it represents the entire program. This goes both ways. One good dog is not evidence of an excellent breeding program. And one bad dog is not evidence of a bad breeding program.

I am sorry for the unfortunate experience you've had with your first Boerboel. I wish you the best and I hope you can resolve your differences with Rick and come to a speedy resolution to this unfortunate situation. I am happy to help in anyway I can.
