It depends on whether you are a "lumper or a splitter" in terms of nomenclature, see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumpers_and_splitters

If you only considered Giant Breed puppy diets you would be leaving behind Large Breed Puppy Diets, Large and Giant Breed Puppy Diets either of which groups might contain the optimal diet.

The question is: How is the diet formulated? What is the Calcium/Phosphorus ratio? Protein level. Energy level.

As far as feeding raw, well what is raw? It is more of a loose operating principle than a developed diet. What is the calcium level in a raw diet? Unless you have access to an analytical lab, you do not know. Any given success or failure of raw feeding is anecdotal by definition.

Because large and giant breed puppies benefit for having carefully formulated diets, forgo the raw for them.
