Subject: Gambrel roof shingling question

I built a 10x13 shed witha Gambrel barn style roof. I am now starting to shigle it. Since the roof has two pitches, how do I make that transition between pitches? Do I use tar/adhesive to hold down the overlapping shingles?

I use a transition metal. Basically it like installing roof to wall upside down.
