Let's not confuse Acceleration with speed. If they have the same engine they can reach the same speed but the mass of the vessel would determine it's acceleration. The TIE is a tiny one man fighter with almost no mass (in Deep Space) vs. the bigger ships so it's going to appear faster but relitivisticly speeking it can't go any "faster" then any of the other ships. Like going from 0 to 60 in a sports car vs. 0 to 60 in a fully loaded dump truck with that same 4 cycle engine.
