Subject: Ghost?

I'd like to get all your input on this. We recently moved to a house in the mountains. It was built (we think in 1945)and I think it is occupied by the spirit/energy of a previous resident. One night when I was out on the deck with one of my daughters and my husband we had a strange, though not unpleasant, experience. My husband had gone inside and upstairs. When my daughter and I went to go in we discovered that my husband (out of habit) had locked the door behind him (though he denies doing so). I specifically looked at the lock and it was in the lock position. I pounded on the door but my husband and my other daughter didn't hear this (it's a pretty big house). I sent my daughter to the side door to see if it was unlocked, while she was walking toward the door I looked at the lock and I literally saw it move into the unlocked position (I was no longer pounding on the door when it unlocked). Now my being skeptical I went back outside, had my daughter relock the door and I began pounding on it to see if it was this that had unlocked the door. After several attempts at pounding, unlocking, relocking and pounding again the door never unlocked itself. I have considered trying to communicate with this entity, however, I am used to "brief" communications with the spirit world and don't know if I am ready to "know" that someone/thing resides in our house with us. I've also gotten the distinct impression that someone is buried in close proximity to our house. The impression is so strong that I have gotten out a shovel and have been digging in a specific location. I have dug up about a 1 foot circle but I can't dig long or often because I don't want my husband to think I have completely gone off my rocker! ;-) Any insight or thoughts you all could lend me would be GREATLY appreciated!!
