She'd lounged most of the day in bed while Luc had been out of the house on business, a rare, but dreaded occasion for her. She didn't like knowing she was by herself - of course there were the employees, but she felt most comfortable with him around. She'd wandered downstairs now, in a pair of Luc's drawstring pyjama pants cinched up around her narrow waist, a white tank top and a fleece zip up hoodie left open. She knew she could get whatever she wanted from the kitchen with just a word, but sometimes she missed doing things for herself, so she found her way into the kitchen, pulling open the door.

She jumped with a little start when she heard the foreign voice, and considered running away. She'd never been alone with either one of his parents, and her stomach twisted in knots. Her hunger, of course, beat her to the chase, and she pulled out some sandwich meat, mayonaise and an apple before heading for the cabinent where she was, asking for bread in Italian. She'd always vowed to never be the little girl who just wanted to get married and have babies, but Luc had made her a new person. She had never ever really questioned the type of business that Luc did - just mostly assumed that it was the same sort of thing that her mother's family did. She didn't want to divulge any details about her former life - the fact that they were supposed to have a couple of nights of fun and then be through. "Well.. we just met randomly and had a couple of dates.. and then there was some.. trouble.. in my apartment, and.. I couldn't stay there, and I had nowhere else to go, and so I ended up here." "No, I guess I'm sorta the branch on the family tree that got forgotten.. or rather left out." She had long ago come to terms that she wasn't pure like the rest of them, and that she would never be one of them - but it still bothered her a little that Luc's family may view that as a flaw.
