Subject: Boonesborough Beach

The sand at the beach was not trucked in. It has been there as long as I remember(54 years). I don't recall any palm trees either. I worked at the park the first year it was a state park, an that was in the summer of 1967. The copy of the old fort, now known as the new fort, was not even under construction. In 1967 there was even a boat dock at the foot of the stairs over by the boat ramp. The locks on the river still worked also. We all had a good time that summer even though we had no palm trees to rest under.
