Hi, I always wanted to know this one, and this is the best place to ask:

Fast-break by team A. Player A4 passes the ball to teammate A5 standing somewhere around the halfway line. A5 has his back to his opponent basket, i.e. looks towards his own basket in order to receive the pass from A4.

Directly behind A5, defender B7 has established a legal guarding position, but A5 cannot see B7. B7 sees the pass coming to A5, and moves closer in to guard A5 short of contact (A5 still doesn't see B7).

A5 receives the pass and turns quickly to proceed up the court. While he does this, there is contact and B7 falls to the floor and A5 progresses up the court.

Block or Charge?

I figure this: The moment A5 received the ball he has to be prepared to be closely guarded. Thus a charge, since B7 is at a disadvantage.

However, does the fact that defender B7 is outside A5's vision have anything to do with it, i.e. block? Then could you even say that since there was no disadvantage, its a no-call?
