The puma never would have let any other feline get within about fifty feet of her brood anyway, they were far to young for that kind of danger. In that natural law of things grown cats hunt and kill young ones, the males do it out of preditory instinct and fear of them growing and taking over, the females out of a kind of instinctive jelocy that they don't want other kittens in the area.
