-..tail twitched, feeling the eyes of the young, possibly curious, nightshade. but he didn't dare make a snide remark; fully knowing the ways of mothers, he cunningly avoided falling into that lethal trap. woe befall any cat that dared to insult the nightshade's young. large cranium turned to look at the youngster with little more than detached interest. the world was full of contenders, just waiting to take advantage of the weak. live with it. though at a tender age, he didn't doubt that socrates already loved the taste of cat-flesh. so far, he had done well to avoid bella'donna and her young as much as possible, but seeing there was no choice in the matter but to acknowledge the presence of the youngster..-

growing quickly now, are you not? soon ready to venture into the wide world, i do not doubt.

-..thorns twitched, not really expecting any spoken response, for none save perhaps for bella'donna had ever heard the young nightshades speak. he spoke with a monotonous tone, yet not as demanding as he had used with the bobcat. after all, playing with nightshades is a dangerous business..-
