My name is Sahdowclaw and I was raised in a clan of ferrets till one night a clan called the Juskarath led by Sawney Rath came.He took over our clan and had a otter,Zann Juskarath Taggerung,teach the older "brats" as he called us,how to take care and shoot,throw,or sling a weapon.I was the first one chosen for the demonstration of how to throw a dagger.I was chosen first because Sawney said to the Taggerung that I looked weak,even though I was the tallest ferret and most agile ferret(besides Sawney)present in the camp,and the Taggerung gave me a dagger whom Sawney had said to let me use.He shwed me how to hold it by the point and gave me target.When Sawney told the whole clan to watch I got a little nervous because I had never had to thrown a dagger before,much less before a crowd!Sawney gave me a target,which was a piece of rotted logI threw the dagger, and to everyones surprise,especially Sawneys and mine,the dagger was sticking out of the log at the center of it!The next thing I knew,I was swept off to Sawneys tent,where he asked me if I had ever killed anybeast.I said no,so he said that he wanted me to be an assasin in training.He said he would get the best bowbeasts,whose names were Vallug and Eefera to teach me archery.He also got the Taggerung to teach me how to throw a dagger farther and faster.Fifteen seasons later,I was whwt Sawney called a true Juskarath assasin.It was true,I could work any weapon that was given to me.But one day as I was out walking Sawneys seer,Grissoul,came and told me that Sawney had died!She wouln't tell how he died,she only told me that he died.Later that night,there was a ceremony for the new leader whos name was Gruven.Then I finally got it out of somebeast that Antigra,Gruvens mother,had killed Sawney.But there was something strange afoot,the Taggerung was gone!Antigra told me that the Taggerung had Killed Sawney,but I didn't believe her.The next morning I was up early and saw that Gruven and some chosen followers were gathered at the base of a tree near the creek.Then finally Vallug noticed me,and before I could hide he came over and got me.He sneered at me and said that I was spying!But the whole time he had been saying this,Gruven had been thinking about how quietly I walked and how nobody noticed me till I was about two spear lengths away!When Vallug was about to send me back to camp,Gruven asked me to go with them!He said that me,Vallug,and Eefera would be the ones that hunted the Taggerung down.About an hour into the journey I got lost,and nobody even noticed.But when they did they were probably to far aheadto send antbeast back to look for me.I stumbled along and then I realized that Iwas in the flatlands!I heard a commotion ahead and went to see what the commotion was about,and guess what?It was the Taggerung and beside him was a little harvest mose.They were fighting a big snake that looked like an adder.Then I noticed that the Taggerung had Sawneys dagger!Then I remembered how Felch was about to be killed by Sawney but instead was going to let his "son" the Taggerung kill him,but the Taggerung wouldn't do it,and ran off into the woodlands with Sawney in pursuit.By the time I was done remembering,the Taggerung and the mouse were a spears length infront of me!I ran,only to find the Taggerung right behind me!He grabbed at my tattered vest and the next thing I knew was that I was flat out on the ground with the Taggerung beside me.He asked me if there was anybeast following him and I told him that there were seven tracking him afore I got seperated from them.After he had finished asking me questions,Nimbalo the Slayer(the mouse),told Tagg to leave me here with a lump on my head!But I asked Tagg to take me with them wherever they were going.He agreed and then we were all set to go.One week into the journey we stopped by Nimbalos house just to discover that his father had been killed by some of Gruvens followers(tagg said he only smelt three).Two days later we arrived at Redwall Abbey and to this day,this is where Nimbalo,Deyna(Taggs real name)the warrior of Redwall Abbey,as he is called for his bravery now,his sister Mhera,who was abbess of the abbey,and filorn,Deynas mother,and me,Shadowclaw,have lived here since.
