Agree with the gangrene...I know it won't kill you right away. Thus the point of Hollywood and how it changes everthing....I think watching a great warrior slowly die would make for a even slower movie.

The food thing, like a lot of ancient wars ceased at nighfall. To pick up the dead and such. Foods could have easily been brought in. Like I said I'm sure food wasn't a huge problem, the city was very large for its time. Now the Greeks probably thought the war would be over in a few months and didn't cut off all trade routes to try to starve them to death.
Yes the walls were circluar.
