I note that the government of the day, regardless of whether the threats are either true or fabricated, should have conducted the cabinent meeting as planned. The government is for the people and be for them regardless of the color of the day.

During the meeting, the government should have heard the people's complaints or threats and then solve the problems causing such feelings from the people of Enga.

[Another thought is that would this government, after having set this precedence, make such a false promise to ENGA: deem this is not a good relation between Enga and the government-am really ashamed Enga was treated as another bloke on the street]

However, when an Engan becomes the Prime Minister not only
will the first NEC meeting be held in Enga but will.........

Enga should be deeply ashamed but will have to work harder as they say; 'when you attend a pig killing and are not given a piece of the feast to have then, it means that you have to go home and raise pigs for yourself and be happy.'

Thus, will have to Eng has to work harder and plan for this moment to come.

Ashamed but disciplined

Cabinet aborts Enga meeting

THE National Executive Council meeting planned to be held in Enga Province at the end of this month has been aborted due to threats and demand for payments made by certain sections of the community.
Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare announced this yesterday in a press statement.
He said he was disappointed to announce that the planned visit of his Cabinet to Enga Province will not be going ahead.
“Sadly I am sure that the ordinary people of Enga would like to meet my team of Cabinet ministers that are making important decisions of government,” Sir Michael said.
“But the demands of payment made to the NEC (National Executive Council) by certain sectors of the community in Enga have now turned into threats.”
Sir Michael said the NEC was not obligated to hold meetings in any of the provinces but had done so over the years to give the opportunity for ordinary people in towns, districts and villages to meet the Members of Parliament who made up the Cabinet.
Sir Michael said it also provided the opportunity for provincial and national leaders to get acquainted with each other and share ideas on improving administration and governance as well as allowing the Cabinet team to see and hear first hand the problems that were faced in the provinces.
“It also generates spin-off income for small businesses such as hotels, vehicle hire companies and community groups in the provinces that are providing services while Cabinet is meeting.
“I therefore am disappointed that because of this malfeasance my team will not be able to visit Enga at this time,” he said.

what sort of threat? was it a terorist threat to blow up the place with the NEC?

You've got to live in such places like Iraq, Colombia, Mexico and Israel to know and feel the real threats. Such fabricated stories about peoples demand is not a good excuse, because leaders are supposed to serve and meet the demands of the people who have voted them in. Somare's good excuse not to have the NEC meeting in Wabag is another way of telling Ipatas and John Pundari, that he can screw them anytime he wants, all they need to do is bend down, and he can come from behind and screw them. why do i say that?

Both leaders contested against the ruling NA party and publicly came out with guns blazing, but when NA got into power, they bend down for Somare to screw them. We cant blame Somare for this, we can only blame our own Engan leaders who have bend down for a Somare quikie, em ol Sepik ya, wokim Tumbuna stail long ol Engan MP's. DOnt be a freakin woman, stand up like a man to be counted, if you become someones breifcase carrier, you will always be a briedcase carrier, no matter how long you have spend in parliament.

just a few thoughts

I concur with the ill political practices of Ipatas and Pundari.
(1)Pundari befriended Ipatas after his contest for the regional seat despite associated ill feelings. Would Pundari have anything for Kompiam-Ambun or Enga yet?

(2)Ipatas seems to be operating both narrowly within Enga 'pasin' in politics and largely outside of this it improperly largely for his benefit and not for the welfare of Enga. I am really saddened that though the engans are bright people I am saddened to observe that none work for the Enga Provincial Government or Enga Provincial Administration. Is Ipatas politics not suiting for such engans to work for Enga?

(3) Don Polye and Sam Abel are in politics with much respect for the Enga 'pasin' in politics. People observe these trends and characteristics which are commendable. (It is still sad to observe that some people, in this forum, are biasedly speaking against Don but do respect their freedom of expression).
Seemingly, Don is a little further to the right than Sam and people would turn to like Sam because of his more mannered characters; he is given the foreign affairs ministry because of this good character complexion.

(4)Ipatas and Pundari Politics
The politics of both Ipatas and Pundari seem to be a distaste or lukewarm warm to most engans and even good friends of Enga. Enga is observed and respected to be producing products in any spectrum/schools of civilization with greater intellectual rigor and greater mannered humour.

Enga's political respect has deteriorated/degraded recently because of recent ill political practices of both Ipatas and Don. Engans, friends of Enga and others have distate for these practices of both politicians which are much contrary to the norms of Engan politics.

(5)Enga is Reasonable
Enga is reasonable and would appreciate if Ipatas and Pundari are sorry to the engans and promise to work together with other engan politicians to develop Enga.

(7) Cabinent Meeting
The Cabinent meeting was deemed to be a sign of appreciation for Enga being very proactive in her persistent support for formation of government and continued support through it life. A good way to say thank you to both Don, Sam, Philip, Miki and the people of Enga.

[If this meeting had occured, it was have been hard for both Ipatas and Pundari to take in the 'created political atmosphere especially the new direction in Engan politics with the government: it was better to not have a Cabinent meeting to avoid much stress that would have been caused for both Ipatas and Pundari if the meeting was held]

For the behalf of Enga, both Ipatas and Pundari should support the good relation among Don, Sam, Philip and Miki. Enga is reasonble to appreciate such as reconciliation among the politicians without a levy to both Ipatas and Pundari.

However, I still maintain that Engans are bright people and thus will continous produce bright people and one of them will be the long expected Prime Minister for Papua New Guinea and Enga.

Cancellation of NEC to Enga is a slap in Sam and Don's face, Jon and Pita has nothing to do with NA.

Sacking of the the first secretary, an Engan is a slap in Don & Sam's face. What are they doing in NEC? I see these two MP's as nothing but 'yes sir' and they dance to haus tambaran music?????

These two MP's need to grow up and think like true Engan's...

John and Peter has an agenda, and if you study the political ten, they will rally behind Patrick Pruaitz as the new PM and not Auther but our two Engan MP's in NEC, they are on the cross roads... Time will tell, tingim....
